Women’s Leadership Exchange

With the Berkeley Chamber of Commerce.

On Wednesday, June 24th, Farmer and the Fig had the pleasure of catering for an event put on by the Berkeley Chamber of Commerce. The event was a Women’s Leadership Exchange, aimed towards boosting confidence, creativity, and team building. It featured a powerful speaker and the opportunity to participate in glass blowing and improv, before mingling, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres (that’s where we come in. But we will get to that.)

The event was held at Glassybaby, a Berkeley glass blowing shop that was founded by Lee Rhodes, a cancer survivor, and whose profits now are a driving force in lowering costs for cancer patients. The small, colorful votives that the shop creates are aimed at soothing the soul and creating a calm and comfortable space for all.

For this event, we created a small but delicious menu that included options for those with dietary restrictions. We made Falafel with Creamy (but vegan) Tahini Dressing, Ratatouille Phyllo Cups with Feta Cheese, and Smoked Salmon Mini Quiche. These appetizers were perfect for what the event entailed; when you are in the middle of improv and blowing glass, you just want a quick, delicious, and filling bite before you get back to the action.

The Glassybaby votives gave the hors d’oeuvres a lovely background light.
